Join Me in Supporting Habitat for Humanity’s RE-BUILD PHILIPPINES Campaign
To All My Friends and Supporters:
I’m sure you’ve heard that disaster has struck the Philippines in the form of typhoon Haiyan, and that Tacloban and other cities and towns in Leyte and Cebu have been devastated.
My heart was broken as I watched news footage of the devastation wrought on a land I consider to be a second home, and upon people I’ve come to love. I can only imagine the pain and misery the typhoon victims must endure, and I fear my darkest imaginings may fall short of reality. I knew there had to be something I could do to help.
Benefit concerts will be held in the Philippines to raise funds and aid rebuilding efforts. I am beyond grateful for my friends and fellow artists in the Philippines who decided to take on this project with me.
I’m asking you to please join me in supporting Habitat For Humanity’s campaign to rebuild the homes of families left homeless by typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.
Habitat for Humanity has been devoted to building simple, decent and affordable housing all over the world. Habitat for Humanity’s RE-BUILD PHILIPPINES program aims to:
- send 5,000 shelter repair kits in Northern Cebu, specifically in the remote areas of Bantayan Island, and
- send 30,000 displaced families back to their homes by Christmas–to enable them to rebuild their lives and communities, by repairing 30,000 damaged homes.
Habitat for Humanity is also targeting the cleanup of 50,000 homes and in the following months will start building 10,000 core house units.
Please support these rebuilding efforts by making a donation. With every dollar you donate, you’ll be automatically entered for a chance to hang out and have lunch with me. I will pick the winner by the end of December. This is open to everyone in and outside the Philippines, I’ll be traveling to Europe, all around U.S. and Asia the first quarter of 2014, so I’ll make sure this lunch date will happen. See official rules.
I cannot do this alone, so I’m asking for your help. Only through a show of caring and support are we able to give our brothers and sisters, who are suffering, the hope they need to get through this difficult time.
