Patti Austin Makes Appearance in a Documentary Film “Twenty Feet From Stardom”

Patti Austin makes a special appearance in a documentary film Twenty Feet From Stardom. The film is about the world of backup singers starring Darlene Love, Merry Clayton, Judith Hill, Claudia Lennear, Lisa Fischer and Táta Vega. The film was directed by a veteran documentary filmmaker, Morgan Neville, and produced by a music industry executive, Gil Friesen.

Twenty Feet From Stardom is a result of Friesen’s musings on the lives of the background singers… “This is a story about people whose fingerprints are all over the music we know but we have no idea who they are,” Neville, a self-described “hardcore music geek,” tells Rolling Stone. Read more >>

This great tribute to the backup singers’ passion, talent and hard work was just released theatrically by Radius/The Weinstein Company. It’s currently playing at the Landmark in West Los Angeles as well as the Angelika in New York City. The film will expand to the following cities on the dates listed below.
